How I Cut My Drinking in Half With Limited Willpower
Sharing my super simple method in case it helps someone else
As my marriage entered shaky ground and I considered whether to go forth solo, I got in the habit of drinking a fair amount. Party for one.
Movies were funnier. Dancing to music while cleaning the kitchen felt fun with some chardonnay.
“Here’s to you, Jan!” I’d toast.
Regular drinking increases your alcohol tolerance, so you need more wine to get the same buzz.
I’d started to lie to doctors
You know how the doctors ask you how much you are drinking? I don’t remember what box I checked, but it certainly wasn’t “at least a couple glasses every night.”
I wasn’t an alcoholic. I could stop. But I didn’t want to.
They say alcohol doesn’t solve anything, but honestly, it made me feel a lot better.
But I was getting a bit concerned about the wine’s effect on my health and my weight.
But I wasn’t going to quit
I admire people who stop drinking. But I know I’m not that motivated.
