Unhappy Valentine’s Day — Where’s the Party?

It’s bullsh*t that we should love ourselves enough to be happy being single on Valentine’s Day

Today is an unhappy Valentine’s Day for me. Shaun told me that he will be filing for divorce today. Ouch.

I have no idea if he actually will because it’s something he has threatened to do before.

And who the hell stays in a marriage where her husband has threatened to file for divorce more than once?

Me, that’s who. I’m still asking myself, isn’t being threatened with divorce reason enough to decide you want or ought to leave the relationship?

But, back to Unhappy Valentine’s Day.

I think we ought to have Unhappy Valentine’s Day Parties — where you can only come if you have a reason to be unhappy on Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to know anyone. You could start each conversation by asking, “So what’s your story? Why are you unhappy this Valentine’s Day?”

I wish I’d thought of this idea earlier. Maybe next year — on the off chance that I’m again unhappy on Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, if you are having an Unhappy Valentine’s Day and want to tell me about it — add a comment below.
